Book Report (story 2)

The Final Problem

In this story the character of Sherlock Holmes created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle fight with one of greatest opponent, the criminal mastermind Professor Morirty, the story is narrated by his friend Dr. Watson.

Sherlock Holmes had investigated the Professor Morirty and all his organization, because of that the professor and his organization will be arrested in three days so Morirty in those days wanted to kill Holmes.

Holmes run away to another place with his friend Watson but Marirty followed them. Marirty cheated to Watson and send him far away, and when Watson realized that all was a trick he came back to help Holmes but it was too late, he found a letter that explained everything, so It was all too clear Holmes and Moriarty have both died in mortal combat. Dr Watson returns to England and he wrote the great history of Holmes.

This story show us a different Holmes he was worried and even he used all his abilities he had a lot of problems, also when I finished to read the story I was impatient to know if Holmes really died.

My conclusion is that everything in life have an opposite, like Holmes and Marirty both have great skills the difference is that they use it for different objectives

Book Report (Story 1)

The Speckled Band

The Speckled Band is an story about Sherlock Holmes's adventures where he makes use of all its abilities to resolve it, is narrated by his friend Dr. Watson. This famous detective was created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Helen a young woman came with Holmes for help the problem was that her sister Julia had died in a mysterious way when she wanted to get married and now that she wants to get married she suspects that something similar could happen, she said that her mother was rich and when she died all her money was given to her stepfather Dr. Roylott but if the sisters get married then they will recive some money. So becouse of this the main suspicious was the violent Dr. Roylott.

The only clues that Holmes had was the last words that Helen's sister said before she died "speckled band" and the unusual whistle that she always heard so he decided to go the house to investigate more. He found strange bell cord over the bed and a suspicious fan up the bed in the room of Julia. Dr. Roylott liked exotic animals, at this moment Holmes says that he has already deduced the solution to the mystery. So he plan to stay with Watson one night in the Julia's room and send Helen to another place, and that night when they heard the whistle Watson saw Holmes hitting with a stick the strange bell a few minutes later the Dr. Roylott screamed then the problem was resolve it, Dr. Roylott used a snake to kill Julia and he wanted to use the same method to kill Helen, the fan connect the two rooms and the snake slide with the bell so when Holmes hits the snake this returns angry to kill Dr. Roylott.

The story is interesting I like it because this kind of stories makes me think the alternatives ends and when I read the real end in most of the cases I always surprise. it was also useful for improve my english.

My conclusion is that the observation and deduction are great skills and for my career very helpful.

Nowdays the consumption of the fish in the world has increase, in China, for example, fish consumption has doubled in the past 15 years, but our oceans have been so overfished one recent report predicted that if fishing carries on as it is now, 90 per cent of the world’s fisheries will be exhausted, so because of that there are a new companies that are making big fish famrs in the pacific, they are trying to domestic the fishery with de tecnology and they said that the fish from the farms will be more fresh and clean. Already more than 50 per cent of the fish in the UK buy from supermarkets is farmed.

Well I think this is a great solution for this problem and a good idea for make some money and because the fish is more nutritive than the meat.

Film: Naomi Watts

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/film/

This podcast talk about of the new horror movie "Funny Games U.S." that is the american remake of 1997 Austrian horror movie of the same name "Funny Games", both were written and directed by Michael Haneke. The podcast show us the interview with one of the main characters Naomy Watts, she said that the film is a psychological drama with sadomasochistic tints and was meant to shock audiences, but the movie almost didnt visually show violence because its main goal was to make a critique to the irresponsible use of violence in movies.

The another interview was with the director of the new fim "Black Sheep", a horror comedy from Jonathan King, he said a sinopsis of the movie, that is the story of a man with an unfortunate phobia of sheeps.

I like the podcast because now I know what the directors thought when they made the movies and what they want to show to the audience, so if I watch the movies I could do a better critic.

RH6M: Animals And Fordie (http://podcast.com/show/29584/)

The podcast was funny the two guys that talk they are young comedians, so they started to talk about diferent topics and funny stories but they always made a lot of jokes, first they comment "how do you impress a girl?" so they started to tell embarrasing moments of their lifes, well in this part I laughed a lot , after that they play a game call it News Quiz where they made many fool and comic questions. They also were conversation about some great new bands of rock in the UK. At the end they said What would they do if they won the Euro Millions lottery. Well I think is a good podcast for freetime and for young people, if you heard it you will have fun for a while, I enjoy it
